Led by critically acclaimed Black authors Lawrence Hill, Canisia Lubrin, and Djanet Sears, each masterclass explores a different genre: children’s novels, poetry, and playwriting. Designed as an intimate and supportive experience, the masterclass series connects local writers who are currently working on a piece with leading Black authors. 

Lawrence Hill – May 5,

1-4 PM

Join award-winning author Lawrence Hill in a Masterclass in which he will share his approaches to incorporating research naturally into his narrative, to world-building and to making use of point of view in his novel for young readers, Beatrice and Croc Harry. There will be plenty of time for questions and for conversation.

COVID Protocols: This session requires proof of triple vaccination.

Join poet Canisia Lubrin in a Masterclass where you will sharpen the possibilities of your poetry’s way of sensing and writing the world.
