David is a live arts event creator and veteran film/TV-maker. His work spans everything from super-silly immersive sci-fi events, to serious documentary investigations of the illegal drug trade, to competition shows about cakes.

As a filmmaker, David created and co-produced the Gemini Award-winning Best. Trip. Ever. for Discovery Channel in 2010. He has since worked in Canada, the US, Australia, and the UK, producing, directing, and writing factual and documentary content for networks like National Geographic, Discovery, BBC, VICELAND, TLC, CBC, and CTV. His first feature-length documentary, The Good Farm, following a cannabis company’s effort to launch the largest outdoor farm in Canada, is now in post-production. In 2017, David wrote, directed, and produced the sci-fi short film Be My Guest. The film enjoyed a successful festival run that included official selections at the world’s most prestigious genre festivals, Sitges (Spain) and Fantasia Film Festival (Montreal). The film is now being distributed by Gonella Productions.

Since 2017, David has produced and co-created 18 unique live and interactive art-party hybrid events in Toronto. As the co-founder of Planet Fabulon, he has become obsessed with exploring how interactive narrative events can be used as a medium for promoting greater connection, playfulness, and social change. With the COVID pandemic in 2020, Fabulon pivoted to creating innovative online events, winning a Digital Originals grant from the Canada Council for the Arts to mount a 4-night interactive, video-game themed, narrative Zoom event LEVEL UP. David has since used that experience to produce bespoke virtual events for corporate clients in the entertainment and tech sectors. David has also been accepted into the 2021 Odyssey Works Experience Design Incubator to develop his original concept for a site-specific narrative VR experience that he intends to produce in Toronto in 2022.
