Connecting the next generation of arts and culture lovers
Creative Current is a year-round programme of intimate performances in unusual places, designed for the culturally curious. Creative Current will deliver the same wonder and excitement Toronto audiences expect and enjoy every June during the Luminato festival. These unique experiences will be informal opportunities for connection and conversation, immersive performance, and other activities designed to surprise and delight.

COVID postponed our plans. We got creative.
Welcome to Creative Current: Junction Triangle.
Originally planned to be an in-person, three-act bicycle experience on September 19, 2020, the rising numbers of COVID-19 meant Creative Current: Junction Triangle was postponed.
But as the world changes, we adapt. One week later, Creative Current: Junction Triangle was filmed without an audience. Spaces became stages as R. Flex, Sydanie, and Naishi Wang & Jane-Alison McKinney four of the city’s most talented rising artists, performed in the back alleys and hidden parking lots of the neighbourhood.
Join us for the film premiere of Creative Current: Junction Triangle on Bramble.
Open Captioned | ASL Host
November 26, 2020 from 8:00pm EST
Artery’s new platform, Bramble is an immersive digi-party that invites you to watch three different performance cuts of the film while text- and video-chatting with the artists and others around you using a unique avatar. Think: the avatar chat rooms of Y2K meets Chat Roulette.
Upon entering the platform, you will be given instructions on how to navigate through each room and how to interact with others. You will walk the virtual red carpet with your unique avatar and then enter into a main space where you will be video greeted by two live Hosts. You can chat and ask them questions by speaking on video, using ASL, or text. You can then similarly chat with others in the space before entering one of three theatres to watch the films.
RSVP to Creative Current: Junction Triangle
Each short film features open-captioning.
There will be a host who signs ASL available to answer questions.
Co-presented by Artery.

Creative Current: Junction Triangle
POSTPONED
Luminato’s first Creative Current event was scheduled for Saturday, September 19, but due to the increase in Toronto's COVID-19 cases, the event has been postponed. We will still be working with the incredible artists we planned to showcase during this weekend to create a new surprise for audience's this fall.
In a partnership between Luminato and Artery, a community and platform designed to bring people together for intimate cultural experiences, this was a sold-out event that was to take audiences, on bicycles, to hidden public spaces in the Junction Triangle neighbourhood where participants would discover some of the city’s hottest artists.
Those who did not or could not ride a bicycle, were provided with an Access Guide describing each location, its access points and time of performance.
Creative Current Committee
A team of Creative Current members have stepped up to build the experience.
