Luminato at the 39th Dora Mavor Moore Awards

Some big nominations for Luminato productions, artists and creative teams from the 2017 festival!

May 30, 2018

Last night the 39th annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards took place in Toronto. Celebrating over 200 theatre, dance and opera productions, 'the Doras' are the gold standard of Canadian creativity in the performing arts.

We're over the moon about our two BIG wins from Luminato 2017, the first year programmed by our Artistic Director Josephine Ridge:

Winner: Outstanding Touring Production
En avant, marche!
A Luminato presentation of NTGent and les ballets C de la B production in collaboration with VLAMO

…bold as brass and like nothing else you’ll see on a Toronto stage this year — exactly the kind of fare to hope for from a high-profile international festival such as Luminato.” – Toronto Star

Winner: Outstanding Production - Dance Division
Until the Lions

A Luminato presentation of an Akram Khan Company production

Of all the performing arts, dance has the greatest power to tap into something primal and urgent in the human spirit. That’s certainly the case with Akram Khan’s Until The Lions, a not-to-be-missed show on at Luminato.” – NOW Magazine

Congratulations to all nominees, artists and teams who worked onstage and behind the scenes!

Yesterday, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts announced nominations for the 39th Dora Mavor Moore Awards and we're thrilled to have Luminato productions, artists and creative team members from the 2017 festival amongst the nominees:
