Last month, some of our nearest and dearest friends, supporters and partners gathered together for a sneak peek at the Luminato 2019 festival line up. The artful soirée, held at Thomson Reuters, was a chance for us to celebrate some of the incredible things our team has been busy working on since the close of the 2018 festival.
Among our distinguished guests was the Honourable Michael Tibollo, Ontario’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, who gave rousing remarks about Luminato’s long history and relationship with the province. Among his comments, Minister Tibollo illustrated how integral arts and culture is to the very fabric of our society: "If someone wanted to try and define 'A Canadian,' you'd have to define us by the way we live a multi-cultural lifestyle, sharing our cultures, our traditions, and incorporating them into who we are." Since the beginning, Luminato has been dedicated to creating a platform where local voices can be empowered and shared with the world.
[Luminato] has made it possible for Toronto to host artistic works by the most celebrated, innovative artists from Canada and around the world. Every summer, Luminato has celebrated and inspired the cultural fabric of our province... Luminato also helps build a strong and prosperous economy and supports jobs, something that we take very seriously in our government.
