Please note that this performance time was originally scheduled to be a show featuring Veda Hille. Hille has had to withdraw from her performance at The Famous Spiegeltent and her friends and colleagues The Queer Songbook Orchestra will be performing instead. Tickets issued to the original Veda Hille performance will still be honoured at the door. If you have any questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Queer Songbook Orchestra are a 12-piece chamber pop ensemble of queer and allied musicians, dedicated to exploring the LGBTQ2S backstories in the last century of popular music, while also giving voice to personal narratives from within the community. Founded in 2014, the QSO have been featured performers at Vancouver's PuSh Festival, Calgary's High Performance Rodeo, residents at the Banff Centre for the Arts and opened for Stars at the Danforth Music Hall. Their first studio album, Part Time Woman, in collaboration with Toronto artist Vivek Shraya, is being released in June 2017.
They are recent recipients of a New Chapter Grant through the Canada Council for the Arts, funding which will allow the QSO to develop new work based on the stories of LGBTQ2S Canadians to be toured across Canada to areas of the country where queerness has less visibility.
