Job Description

Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Web & Digital Officer is responsible for developing and managing the organization’s digital marketing and communications ecosystem (website, social, email), content development and digital campaigns (paid, organic, owned). With a focus on a seamless end-to-end customer journey and return on investment across digital marketing and communication channels this role will develop and execute digital, social and content marketing strategies and stay informed on industry trends and advancements.   This includes:
 
  • Act as social media subject matter expert on paid (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn Paid marketing) and Organic (influencer, community management and brand ambassador) aspect of social media
  • Drive an always on approach based on an annual editorial calendar and ensuring agility for festival content to build engagement and drive ticket sales
  • Develop strategies for multiple interactive properties including website, blog, email campaigns, social media and video to reach target audiences and accomplish marketing goals
  • Collaborate with the Communications Manager and Marketing Manager to support acquisition and growth strategies and contribute to interactive budgets, projects and timelines
  • Project manage full lifecycle of interactive projects from conceptualization to execution
  • Maintain a consistent style and voice for the Festival’s digital presence
  • Anticipate all activities related to the development of interactive solutions
  • Act as key contact with interactive agencies and other online media partners and suppliers as required
  • Track and monitor performance on interactive channels to increase engagement and identify areas for improvement
  • Work closely with the Graphic Designer to ensure a consistent brand look across all digital assets
  • Keep up to date with online trends, emerging design techniques and their application
 
Roles and Responsibilities
 
Administrative
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate the integration and launch of interactive projects
  • Address interactive-related inquiries and escalate/troubleshoot accordingly
 
Design
  • Work with Graphic Designer to create assets for website and email campaigns
  • Create dynamic digital assets for social media and video
  • Collaborate closely with Graphic Designer to ensure interactive designs are aligned with festival’s brand guidelines
 
Content Creation & Management (Website, Video, Email, Social Media, Digital Advertising)
  • Work with Communications Manager and Social Media Assistant to produce content for the website, blog, video, email campaigns and social media
  • Centralize multimedia asset management
  • Work with Marketing Manager to produce and optimize digital advertising campaigns
 
Website
  • Administer website’s Content Management System and Media Library; help create staff training guides and troubleshoot; coordinate workflow with external web developers
  • Establish information architecture and maintain digital content standards according to SEO best practices and AODA guidelines
  • Oversee ongoing maintenance and improvements of interactive properties; monitor user experience; work with external web developer to track and resolve technical issues
  • Manage day-to-day updates, build festival content pages and work with CRM Database to optimise website integration
  • Monitor and report on Google Analytics
 
Video
  • Identify opportunities for video content: rehearsals, interviews, profiles
  • Estimate resource needs for video production and acquire equipment as needed
  • Produce engaging video content: shoot, direct, edit, source footage and render
  • Prepare video files for partners and advertisers
 
Email
  • Produce all email campaigns, including digests, promotions, dedicated emails, performance reminders in conjunction with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator
  • Work with Marketing and Partnerships Officer to coordinate third-party exchanges
  • Edit email template designs according to best practices

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in interactive marketing, communications, graphic design or digital media preferred
  • Strong understanding of visual design, content strategy and analytics
  • Technical proficiency in Mac OS and PC: Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, SpeedGrade), HTML, JavaScript, CSS
  • Thorough understanding of web production and ability to collaborate and communicate clearly with web developers
  • Background in video production, editing and colour grading with interest in photography
  • Familiarity with trends in digital standards, best practices, accessibility and usability
  • Strong communication skills: visual, written and oral
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders’ expectations
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically
  • Understanding of or experience with not-for-profit / arts fundraising is an asset
  • Understanding of CRM database systems (preferably Spektrix) is an asset
  • Enthusiasm for (and ideally experience in) in the work of not-for-profit creative businesses
  • General knowledge of Employment Standards Act as it relates to managing employees in a festival environment, and a management style that combines personal sensitivity with a strong focus on results
  • Understanding of AODA compliance and CASL legislation
 
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
 
  • Weekend & evening work required particularly in the run-up to and during the festival
