Job Description

Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Social Media and Digital Communications Assistant will help support Luminato’s marketing and communications team in managing the festival’s social media platforms, campaigns and digital communications, including email marketing and the Luminato website.
Social Media and Digital Communications
  • Assist in generating compelling content and graphics for Luminato’s social media and digital story telling platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, eNewsletters, website and blog
  • Assist in scheduling and monitoring content across all of Luminato’s social media platforms
  • With guidance from the Communications Manager, appropriately respond to public queries made via Luminato’s social media and digital platforms
  • Work with the Web & Digital Officer to source and create compelling video, photo and written content for Luminato’s social media and digital platforms
  • Work with the Marketing & Communications Coordinator to manage Luminato’s social media and eNewsletter schedule
  • Manage internal approvals and review of content and copy
  • Assist in the execution and fulfilment of Luminato contests, giveaways and other digital campaigns
  • Work with the Marketing Partnerships Officer to ensure that all corporate partnership social media and digital communications requirements and reporting are fulfilled as contracted
  • Research and identify potential digital influencers to act as Luminato Brand Ambassadors
  • Identify opportunities to create/repurpose user-generated content across all platforms
  • Work with the Marketing & Communications Coordinator to facilitate third-party social media exchanges
  • Work with the Web & Digital Officer to update content on website and assist in coordinating projects, upgrades and major content development with external web team
  • Oversee layout and execute email campaigns in collaboration with Marketing Manager
  • Assist in managing the social media promotions budget
Reporting and Analytics
  • Assist in tracking and reporting on social media and email analytics
  • Source relevant analytics and assist in creating accurate and detailed reports
  • Create a complete festival post mortem with detailed analytics including traffic, reach, views, ROI on paid initiatives, major successes and areas of improvement
  • Attend festival events to live-tweet and/or support event execution via social media platforms
  • Create and manage the Marketing and Communications team social media monitoring and event schedule, ensuring there is constant coverage and monitoring during the festival; work with the Volunteer Manager to assign Digital Volunteers to venues/events to capture content on behalf of the festival; vet content, post and credit as appropriate
  • Assist in creating and sourcing content for the Luminato blog and eNewsletter
  • Assist with additional digital marketing, communications and promotional projects as assigned
Key Competencies
  • Exceptional written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of various social media platforms and best practices with relevant work experience
  • Familiarity with trends in digital standards, best practices, accessibility and usability
  • Ability to problem-solve and resolve conflicts, with a positive and professional attitude
  • Excellent project management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask with quick deadlines in a busy environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, as well as Adobe Creative Cloud (asset)
  • 1 to 2 years social media content planning, creation and management experience in a professional setting
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in digital marketing, online community engagement or a related field
  • Experience using content management systems (CMS), email platforms, and customer relationship management tools (basic HTML skills and basic image editing skills an asset) to optimize marketing effectiveness
  • Background in video production and editing and passion for photography an asset
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
  • Weekend & evening work required particularly in the run-up to and during the festival
