Save to my events
Koerner Hall

The concept is to have some of the most recent Polaris Prize winners perform together for one night at Koerner Hall. Jeremy Dutcher, Tanya Tagaq, and Lido Pimienta will be the focus of the evening but at the end Buffy Sainte-Marie will join the other artists for the performance of The Ballad of Crowfoot a song by Willie Dunn.

The song will be accompanied by a screening of the first Indigenous directed and produced film at the NFB in 1968. The film was made to accompany the song, The Ballad of Crowfoot, and is describes as “a powerful look at colonial betrayals, told through a striking montage of archival images and a ballad composed by Dunn himself about the legendary 19th-century Siksika (Blackfoot) chief who negotiated Treaty 7 on behalf of the Blackfoot Confederacy.” (NFB website)
