CLICK HERE to apply to be part of the Luminato Festival 2013 volunteer team

Get Involved!

Toronto’s premier multi-disciplinary Festival of Arts and Creativity is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers (19+) to help transform the city for ten exceptional days (June 14-23, 2013). Our diverse group of volunteers enhances the visitor experience by providing guests of the Luminato Festival with information, lending onsite support and working with Luminato staff.

Volunteering with the Luminato Festival comes with many benefits: a unique way to engage with exciting programming and events at various sites in the downtown core, a chance to learn new skills, a fun way to meet new people, and a chance to give back to the community.

Please review the roles outlined below:

Ambassadors

Ambassadors warmly welcome and actively engage guests at the different venues and Festival sites. This large group of volunteers acts as the public face of Luminato by greeting guests, answering general questions, provide information about different activities. As an Ambassador you will have to attend one mandatory training session.

Arts Marketing Team

As an Arts Marketing Team volunteer you will have the opportunity to work with Luminato’s Marketing & PR team to spread the word about the Luminato Festival and conduct audience research.

From event promotion and program distribution to audience surveys and social media activities, this is a varied role that’s guaranteed to keep you on your toes! As an Arts Marketing volunteer, you will have to attend an interview and one mandatory training session.

Culture Link Mentors

As part of our partnership with Culture Link, a settlement agency for new Canadians, we are recruiting mentors to work with small groups of newcomers as they prepare to volunteer at the Luminato Festival. Mentors will guide their mentees through the Culture Link training program beginning in April. This involves an interview, two mandatory training sessions, holding meeting circles with your group and volunteering alongside your group during their shifts. This opportunity will provide an even greater capacity to give back, both to the Luminato Festival and to a group of excited newcomers to Canada.

Please note that priority will be given to applicants with previous Luminato experience.

Festival Administrative Volunteers

Festival Administrative Volunteers (FAVs) help with “behind the scenes” tasks at Luminato’s Volunteer Centre. They use their excellent administrative and communication skills to assist the Volunteer Department with general office work such as scheduling and on-shift updates and data entry. As a FAV, you will have to attend an interview and one mandatory training session.

Please note that priority will be given to applicants with previous Luminato experience.

Info Team

Info Team volunteers help guests get the most out of their Luminato Festival experience. Info Team members receive special training about artistic programming in order to provide further information as well as suggestions on both free and ticketed events. They are usually positioned at one of the two Info Kiosks. This position requires an interview and one mandatory training session.

Please note that priority will be given to applicants with previous Luminato experience.

Team Leaders

Team Leaders manage groups of volunteers when different tasks need to be coordinated and act as main contact with the Volunteer Coordinators during their shift. Team Leaders are experts at creating a fun, positive and focused atmosphere! They attend an interview and one mandatory training session.

Please note that priority will be given to applicants with previous Luminato experience.

Venue Captains

Luminato Venue Captains manage groups of volunteers at Festival venues before and during ticketed events and act as main contact for the House Manager and Volunteer Coordinators during their shifts. Venue Captains are expected to deal with patrons and relaying timely information in a theatre setting, and they communicate clearly and efficiently with both Luminato volunteers they supervise and with venue staff. This position requires an interview and one mandatory training session.

Please note that priority will be given to applicants with previous Luminato and FOH experience.
