In "I Am From Reykjavik,” Sonia Hughes arrives to our city as a stranger. She has no community, sense of belonging, or home. Carrying lumber and steel on her back, she’ll build and dismantle a structure in a new location every day in search of the confidence and connection she has sacrificed in her move to a new place. As she constructs and deconstructs her temporary refuge, she will attempt to connect with the community, curious if she can find comfort around us. We will be both willing and accidental participants in whatever she finds in her “home”.

This durational performance hopes to encourage contemplation of our place in the world and where our next journey will lead us and about our own place in the world and where your next move might take you. "I Am From Reykjavik"offers an opportunity for introspection, connection, and perhaps maybe even a chance to build your own sense of home.
