Aanii (hello)
My name Sheena Kitchemokman I am an Ojibway woman from Birch Island, Ontario. I am a forty two year old mother of two children. Also, I am a traditional jingle dress dancer. I started dancing for Every Child Matters awareness due to the fact that Indigenous children were never given the opportunity to dance because of Indian Residential Schools (IRS). Therefore, I dance to heal the community and embrace the power of ceremony. I’d like to think that dancing is healing. I love dancing with a good heart, mind, body and spirit. I work as an Indigenous Mental Health case manager at Fred Victors. Also, I have a special degree in Indigenous studies from the University of Toronto. I graduated in 2017 and I have worked within the Indigenous community in the GTA.
Miigetch (thank-you)
