K’naan is a musician and writer originally from Somalia. K’naan migrated from Mogadishu as a 12 year old as the country was descending into chaos.

After a ten + year hiatus from music K’naan’s latest song “Refugee” has been awarded the Grammy’s 2024 “ Best song for Social Change.

His past music work has earned him several major awards including a VMA, 4 Juno Awards as well as the # 1 spot in 19 countries when his song Wavin’Flag became a theme song for the 2010 World Cup.

K’naan’s essays have appeared in the NY Times and he is currently working on several projects across various artistic outlets.
